SAY GOODBYE TO HEADACHES, MIGRAINE ETC

IT COULD BE TMJ DISORDER…

There are many causes for TMD such as :

1. Unbalanced occlusion or bad bite

2. Stress (emotional or work/school related)

3. Injury or trauma

4. Teeth grinding or bruxism

A bad bite could be due to any of the following:

1. Missing teeth

2. Irregular or crowded teeth

3. Worn down teeth

When teeth are missing or not in contact with each other, it causes the jaw to shift positions and thereby muscles work harder to function like chewing, swallowing etc. and ultimately causes muscle pain, spasm and tension.

Clenching your teeth while sleeping is the result of some of the strongest muscles in your body tensing up, which can cause morning headaches, sore jaws, stiff necks and sensitive teeth.

TREATMENT FOR TMJ DISORDER

The Nociceptive Trigeminal Inhibition (NTI) Tension Control Device is an acrylic partial occlusal splint that hugs the front two teeth. This lets the lower jaw rest in its proper place and causes the teeth to subside from being able to clench together. It is normally fitted by a dentist trained in the technique, and is constructed with the help of a dental technician.

Patients typically get relief from tension headaches within the first week, but with migraines it may take a few weeks. In clinical trials on migraine patients, 82 percent reported a reduction in their migraine frequency.
